The unveiling of nova 7 Pro, nova 7 and nova 7 SE – Huawei’s 5G midranges

News unit EMGblog.com : Company Huawei on Thursday, April 23, 2020 (May 4, 2019) – while introducing the MatePad 10.4 tablet – from The nova 7 series of smartphones has also been unveiled online, which includes 3 phones with the names nova 7 Pro,nova 7 and nova 7 SE is included. These 3 phones are very similar to the Honor 30 series from the front. have But the design of the back cover and the camera module in these two series are completely different. In general, the nova series of smartphones are known for having a beautiful design, a powerful selfie camera and decent performance, and of course, an affordable price. In the new nova series, all three phones have a quad camera setup, a 4,000 mAh battery, and 5G connectivity.

nova 7 and nova 7 Pro

Except for a few minor items, the specifications of these two phones are not different. The variety of colors of the phones is perhaps the first thing that comes to mind. These colors include black, red, blue, green and a kind of silver that Huawei calls Color 7; According to Huawei, the color has a transparent texture and is obtained as a result of the double-layer plating process.

Both phones have an OLED display with FHD+ resolution (equivalent to 1080×2340 pixels at Nova 7 Pro and 1080×2400 pixels on Nova 7). It is interesting to know, this is the first time that Huawei uses a hole in the panel or punch hole for OLED displays in the nova series. With approval from the German company TÜV Rheinland, these displays protect the user’s eyes and a fingerprint sensor is embedded under their layer. The screen diameter of nova 7 is equal to 6.53 inches and its aspect ratio is 20:9. While the display of the Pro version is 6.57 inches and its aspect ratio is 19.5:9. In both displays, the camera hole can be seen, with the difference that the nova 7 hole has one camera and the Pro version hole has 2 cameras.

The Kirin 985 chipset is the brain behind the nova 7 and nova 7 Pro. This chip is made with TSMC 7nm lithography and consists of the following components: 1 core of 2.58 GHz and 3 cores of 2.40 GHz (according to the architecture of Cortex A76 processors), 4 cores of 1.84 GHz (according to the architecture of Cortex A55 processors) and GPU Mali G77. According to Huawei, another component of this chipset is a “neural processing unit” or dual-core NPU developed by Huawei itself and responsible for artificial intelligence processing. Needless to say, 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal memory are considered for both phones, which of course are not upgradeable.

As mentioned in the introduction, 4 cameras are placed in a rectangular module on the back of both phones. The main camera is 64 megapixels and the lens aperture is f/1.8. Other members include an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera (both with f/2.4 aperture). The set comes complete with an 8-megapixel telephoto camera.

Telephoto camera, in nova 7 Pro is periscopic type (with f/3.4 aperture) and in terms of zoom, it is very powerful, so that optical zoom up to 5 equal, hybrid zoom up to 10 times and digital zoom of this camera up to 50 times has been announced. The optical stabilizer with dual structure is another feature of the camera in the Pro version. In nova 7 also has an 8-megapixel telephoto camera (with f/2.4 aperture), with the difference that it is not a periscope type and therefore its zoom power is reduced (optical zoom up to 3x, hybrid zoom up to 5x) and digital zoom up to 20 times).

As already mentioned, in the nova 7 Pro we see two cameras on the front of the phone, which are placed inside the display cavity: a 32 megapixel camera – with autofocus – and An 8-megapixel camera with a wide-angle lens (both with f/2.2 aperture). According to Huawei, this 8-megapixel camera can take selfies with a 105-degree angle. Also, according to the manufacturer’s claim, the autofocus system in the 32-megapixel selfie camera is equipped with a closed-loop motor. This system, along with a powerful eye detection algorithm (using artificial intelligence), brings fast eye tracking to the front camera of this phone.

In nova 7, only one 32-megapixel camera (f/2.0) is placed as a selfie camera in the display cavity, and its auto-focus feature has also been removed. The front camera in both phones has a feature that Huawei calls Portrait Super Night View 3.0, and on paper, it can take decent selfies even in low-light environments. Not to mention, with these smartphones, you can record video with both front and back cameras at the same time, and in the final video, half of the screen is related to the video recorded with the back camera, and the other half is related to the video recorded with the front camera.

Battery capacity in nova 7 and nova 7 Pro is equivalent to 4,000 mAh. This battery is quickly charged with 40W fast charging and through the USB-C port, and according to Huawei, the battery can be charged to 75% within half an hour. Of course, this battery is also compatible with 22.5 W fast charging. The operating system of these two phones is Android 10 and Huawei’s proprietary user interface (EMUI 10.1) runs on it.

As mentioned, both smartphones are equipped with 5G connectivity thanks to the Kirin 985 chip. These devices are nano-type dual SIM cards and use Bluetooth version 5.1. Among other strengths of these phones, it can be mentioned that they have NFC.

Nova 7 SE

From the suffix SE, we can guess that the specifications of this phone are a little lower than the other two models. The size of the screen with a diameter of 6.5 inches does not change much compared to nova 7 and nova 7 Pro, but the fundamental change shows itself when you know that unlike the above two models, in nova 7 SE uses an LCD display. Subsequently, the fingerprint sensor has been moved from under the display to the edge of the phone. Despite the downgrade of the display type from OLED to LCD, Huawei has kept its resolution high at 2400 x 1080 pixels.

Another difference nova 7 SE, in its chipset. In making this phone from the chip

Like the nova 7 and nova 7 Pro, here too we have 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage, but the SE version has the upper hand here, as it adds Memory card of nano memory type, its internal memory can be upgraded up to another 256 GB.

Optically, nova 7 SE also has four cameras on its back. Except for the 2-megapixel depth camera (with f/2.4 aperture), the other members of this set – that is, the main 64-megapixel camera, the 8-megapixel wide-angle camera and the 2-megapixel macro camera – have not changed. In other words, in the SE version, the telephoto camera has been removed and replaced by a 2-megapixel depth camera. Unsurprisingly, with the removal of the telephoto camera, the camera set’s ability to zoom is reduced. There is no optical zoom in nova 7 SE and Huawei only mentions digital zoom up to 10 times in the specification table of this phone. Add 4K video recording to the spec list. It should be noted that the resolution of the front camera has been reduced to 16 megapixels (f/2.0) and there is no autofocus.

Things like battery, operating system and other communication specifications have not changed in SE version, except that nova 7 SE lacks NFC.

Finally, all three new Huawei smartphones will be released in China from April 28 (May 9). The prices of these phones in different configurations are as follows:

– nova 7 Pro model 8+256: equal to 4,099 yuan (at the current exchange rate, approximately equivalent to 580 dollars)

– nova 7 Pro model 8+128: equal to 3,699 yuan ($524)

– nova 7 model 8+256: equal to 3,399 yuan ($481)

– nova 7 model 8+128: equal to 2,999 yuan ($424)

– nova 7 SE model 8+256: equal to 2,799 yuan ($396)

– nova 7 SE model 8+128: equal to 2,399 yuan ($340)
