the end of an evening; BlackBerry is ending support for all of its classic smartphones

Today, the iPhone is considered one of the most popular smartphones in the market; But going back two decades, BlackBerry phones were probably one of the coolest devices anyone could get; But this company now has no place in the smartphone market due to some management weaknesses, decisions and, of course, the wrong competition with Apple.

It has been a long time since Blackberry’s classic phones are no longer produced with this company’s proprietary operating system, and even it seems It turns out that the policy of producing Android phones has also completely failed. However, the Canadian company has supported even its classic phones in software; But apparently this support will end soon and it can be described as a bitter farewell to BlackBerry’s failed ambitions in the field of smartphones.

BlackBerry announced yesterday that it will stop supporting classic smartphones that have BlackBerry operating system. 7.1 and Blackberry 10, it ends. The company advises customers to remove phones with such software and, if not, make sure they’re running the latest version of the operating system to ensure the carrier or Wi-Fi connection remains active.

As a result, even basic functions such as calls, mobile data, SMS, etc. may not work properly on classic Blackberry phones. Of course, it should be noted that BlackBerry Android phones will still be supported. Apparently, BlackBerry OS support will officially end on January 4, 2022; Therefore, software services for BlackBerry OS 7.1 and earlier, BlackBerry 10, BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.1 and other step versions will not be provided after the specified period.

Passing this issue, it is interesting to know that Apple and iPhone are the main reason for Blackberry’s exit from the smartphone market. Certainly, the iPhone in 2007 changed the entire smartphone industry; But almost all phone manufacturers at that time did not believe that Apple would have such an impact on the market. When Apple introduced the first iPhone, several executives at RIM (Blackberry’s parent company) scoffed at the iPhone; Because they thought consumers would never want a smartphone with a touchscreen and a virtual keyboard.

However, consumers actually welcomed having a smartphone with a large touchscreen, and as the iPhone became a huge global success, the value Blackberry’s market declined significantly only in the years after the introduction of the first iPhone, and the company lost most of its users with its wrong decisions.

On the other hand, companies such as Samsung quickly followed Apple’s path with equipped smartphones. They followed the touchscreen to stay in the market, and by the time BlackBerry decided to move on with its smartphones, it was already too late. However, if you’re still using a classic BlackBerry phone in 2021, it’s best to back up all your data as soon as possible; Because all your information may be deleted or disrupted after the end of support.
