Testing Surface with AMD processor at the same time as the relationship between Microsoft and Intel is faltering
In the past five years, all tablets and Laptops from Microsoft to Intel have been equipped; But it seems that due to Microsoft’s dissatisfaction with this company’s processors, we will soon see a change in Redmond’s policy and in Surface laptops AMD processors should be used.
According to the reports published in the media, it seems that the Sky Lake Intel caused the recent dissatisfaction of the Redmonds and weakened the company’s business relations with Microsoft. In this context, it is reported that Microsoft is testing its Surface laptop using AMD’s 12nm Picasso model processor. According to the available data, this processor is based on the Zen+ microarchitecture and Vega GPU and replaces the Raven Ridge model. Picasso processors are manufactured in the 12 nm GlobalFoundries process A combination of four cores are made. Despite Microsoft’s recent dissatisfaction with Intel’s products, it doesn’t seem like the Redmonds will devote all their production lines to AMD; Because they believe that Intel is a powerful brand with significant international acceptance. Also, it seems that Microsoft does not intend to redesign the Surface production line; But the use of USB-C technology will be implemented this year. It is worth mentioning that a new design for Surface Pro models with the code name Carmel will also be launched next year.
According to the forecast, Microsoft is expected to officially introduce its new Surface models in October this year.
