Snapdragon 215 replaces Snapdragon 210, which is Qualcomm’s weakest chip since 2014. This chip is mostly used in very cheap unlocked phones from unknown brands. These are phones that most people don’t necessarily want to own; But they are forced to buy them. The Snapdragon 215 chip has made significant progress compared to the Snapdragon 210. According to Qualcomm, this chip is 50% faster than the Snapdragon 210. Like its older model, Snapdragon 215 is equipped with a quad-core processor; But instead of the old A7 cores, it uses Cortex A53 cores. These 64-bit cores are significantly faster and consume less power compared to the 32-bit A7 cores.
Low-cost phones are also gradually moving towards using large-scale screens like 18:9, and the Snapdragon 215 is one of those. It supports up to HD+ quality with a resolution of 1560 x 720 (19.9:9). The more powerful Adreno 308 GPU can display movies better and process games more easily. This GPU is about 28% faster than the Snapdragon 210 GPU, and it also provides a longer battery life.
Furthermore, Qualcomm’s new chip with its dual image signal processor (ISP) allows budget phones to compete in the camera field as well. Snapdragon 215 supports a dual camera to add depth to the image and create a portrait effect. Also, the camera resolution has been upgraded from 8 megapixels in the 210 chip to 13 megapixels in the 215. Hexagon’s new digital signal processor technology also allows normal phones to play music for up to 5 days, and applications that use GPS do not drain the battery much.
This new chip has more capabilities in the field of wireless. For the first time, NFC support has been added in one of the 200 series chips. Removing this feature in 2014 seemed reasonable; But now mobile payments have become very common. In addition, the possibility of supporting two SIM cards with VoLTE technology is included in this chip and the Wi-Fi connection has been updated to 802.11ac, which means a higher speed of up to 433 Mbps. However, the LTE connection speed remains at 150 Mbps. It should be noted that this chip, like the Snapdragon 210, uses the old X5 LTE modem.
The first device equipped with the Snapdragon 215 chip will be released in late 2019. This chip supports more features; But there is no guarantee that mobile phone manufacturers will use them. Phones supplied with this chip cost less than $100; Therefore, there is no room left for talk and hadith.
