Samsung’s modern technique increases the phone’s battery capacity without changing the volume
About a year ago, Samsung SDI started the production process of the fifth generation of electric vehicle batteries using the stacking technique. In Samsung’s new method, the battery parts can be packed more compactly to provide more capacity without changing the volume. Batteries produced by the stacking method have at least 10% more capacity compared to batteries produced by the traditional method. This means that a 5,000 mAh battery can have a capacity of more than 5,500 mAh without changing the volume. Thanks to Samsung’s technique, it is possible to make phones thinner without reducing the battery capacity.
Normal batteries cannot be compactly packed because the swelling of the battery during charging and discharging can cause the electrodes to bend and damage them. Samsung’s new design solves this problem by taking into account the empty space inside the package.
It is said that Samsung’s new batteries are going to be produced in the factory in Cheonan, South Korea. Samsung is likely to change one of the production lines of the factory in Tianjin, China, to find the ability to produce this type of battery.
