Samsung showed off its ability to produce flexible OLED panels with different dimensions
Samsung is currently the absolute ruler of the world of foldable devices. Although companies such as Motorola, Oppo and Huawei are also active in this field, only Samsung can sell foldable devices on a mass scale.
The Koreans showed at CES 2022 that the Galaxy Z Fold and The Galaxy Z Flip is just the beginning of the flip craze. At this year’s event, Samsung unveiled four new foldable form factors, three of which belong to the world of smart headphones.
Samsung S and G foldables
S and G foldables have almost the same mechanism. ; The S panel folds into an S shape and, according to Samsung, turns a phone-sized product into a much larger device. Panel G also has two folds; But it folds inward to protect the screen from scratches.
G folding is not as versatile as S folding; But for devices that are mostly used in outdoor environments, it is a more suitable solution; Note that the Koreans have not yet made any promises to produce products with S and G panels.
Samsung Flex Note foldable
Don’t get excited; Flex Note is not a name for the next generation of Galaxy Note; Samsung is considering the foldable FlexNote for futuristic laptops with an integrated panel. Without the need for a physical keyboard, a laptop equipped with a Flex Note panel can be a large display, a tablet for design or a laptop with a virtual keyboard. I wish Microsoft would revive the canceled Surface Neo with Samsung’s Flex Note panel!
Finally foldable Flex Slidable is coming. More than anything else, this panel reminds me of the Oppo X 2021 concept device. The Flex Slidable rollable panel is similar to a normal smartphone; But it can be extended from one side and provide a larger screen to the user. In its presentation, Samsung used this additional space to access the shortcut apps.
