In 2019, we saw the release of VOOC 3.0 (with a power of 20 watts) and VOOC 4.0 (with a power of 30 watts). Finally, in 2020, the second generation of SuperVOOC technology with a power of 65 watts was unveiled; The same technology that has since been widely used in the manufacture of Oppo phones, One ​​Plus and realme is used.

During these years, Oppo along with the development of charging technology Saree has been working on producing thinner and more portable chargers and trying to achieve high speeds in its wireless charging technology (called AirVOOC). The result of Oppo’s efforts in 2022 is the increase of SuperVOOC power to 80 watts, which is in the OnePlus OnePlus 10 Pro and Oppo Find X5 Pro has been implemented. Even the 125-watt SuperVOOC charging technology was introduced by Oppo in 2020, which has not yet been used in any device. But the story doesn’t end here.

As mentioned in the introduction, Oppo recently presented the latest generation of SuperVOOC technology at this year’s Mobile World Congress with a stunning power of 150 watts. According to Oppo, thanks to this technology, a 4,500 mAh battery can be charged to 50% in just 5 minutes and to 100% in 15 minutes. Of course, you should note that the figures provided by Oppo are related to charging the battery with a 1% reserve and not a completely empty battery. However, it will take some time to bring the battery reserve from 0 to 1 percent.

The 150-watt SuperVOOC charging technology, along with a feature called Battery Health Engine, can charge a voltage of 20 output volts with a current of 7.5 amps. The smartphone on which Oppo has demonstrated its new technology has a two-cell battery. The charger in question also includes two charging pumps, each of which initially outputs 20 volts with a current of 3.75, which eventually turns into a voltage of 5 volts with a current of 15 amps for each cell.

Oppo, this technology has passed the necessary tests for security and heat dissipation. Of course, it should be noted that the mentioned figures were obtained under certain conditions (the phone was in flight mode while charging, the screen was off, and nothing was done with the phone). As such, the actual numbers are expected to be slightly higher than this. But despite all this, the charging speed with this charger is amazing and even faster than Oppo’s 80W charging technology.

The new 150 watt Oppo charger is a Type-C charger and is compatible with USB Power Delivery, PPS and Quick Charge standards. In this way, the new OPPO charger can be used to charge the batteries of other compatible devices as well (in this case, the high speed of 150W charging will probably not be heard anymore). Another interesting point, Oppo’s use of GaN (gallium nitride) in the construction of this charger. The purpose of this work is to reduce the size of the energy conversion components and ultimately reduce the size of the adapter. Needless to say, the new 150 W charger of OPPO with dimensions of 30 x 57 x 58 mm is only slightly larger than the 65 W charger of this company and weighs 172 grams. One of the most important concerns about fast charging technologies is their adverse effect on battery life. related to. Oppo’s solution to counteract this effect is called Battery Health Engine, which is the first time in the manufacture of Find X5 series has been launched. This engine includes a battery management chip along with two other technologies, which are Smart Battery Health Algorithm and Battery Healing Technology. According to Oppo, thanks to the Battery Health Engine (BHE), battery capacity (even after 1,600 charge cycles) is maintained up to 80%. Considering that the battery capacity usually reaches 80% after about 800 charging cycles, it can be said that BHE almost doubles the useful life of the battery.
