Introduction of Super FlashCharge 120W technology by iQOO – full battery charge of 4,000 in 15 minutes
According iQOO claims that using this new technology, it is possible to charge a 4,000 mAh battery from 0 to 50 percent in just 5 minutes. It takes 15 minutes to fully charge this battery. This charging speed is almost twice as fast as the 65-watt charging technology in a flagship such as Oppo Find X2 Pro.
The iQOO press conference lasted only 15 minutes. At the beginning of this conference, the organizers connected a smartphone device with a 4,000 mAh battery using a prototype charger – which is equipped with 120 W charging technology – to the power outlet so that the battery reserve reaches 0 to 100 percent. While the battery was being charged, an iQOO executive revealed more details about the technology and explained how it can do its job properly without overheating the phone.
In the new iQOO technology, the battery cells are placed together with a special and new arrangement, and thanks to this new design, the storage of a 4,000 mAh battery goes from 0 to 50% in just 5 minutes. The mechanism of this technology is that the current is converted from 20 volts at 6 amps to 10 amps at 12 volts. In this way, the power is divided between two equal circuits (with a current of 12 amps and a voltage of 5 volts) that can charge 2 cells of 2,000 mAh. Any smartphone produced with this solution must be equipped with additional layers of graphite as well as more internal coolers to keep the temperature down and protect the motherboard.
It is interesting to know, just a few hours before the iQOO press conference, the realme brand released teasers related to its 120W fast charging technology called SuperDART. Oppo also developed a new standard for 125W fast charging. called SuperVOOC. Of course, before the introduction of the new iQOO charger, none of the Oppo and realme brands had yet displayed their fast charging technology in public, but iQOO did this in a recent press conference, and the related video was posted on the company’s page in Weibo social network is loaded.
iQOO officials did not reveal more details of the smartphone that is going to be released in August with this technology. Of course, considering iQOO’s tendency to produce gaming phones, this device will most likely be a gaming smartphone. However, sooner or later, 120W charging technology will eventually make its way to regular smartphones. It should be noted that 120 watts is a very high power and the slightest mistake may have disastrous consequences. Of course, with the release of the chip production news Snapdragon 865 Plus From Qualcomm, we can expect the release of iQOO phones equipped with this chipset. This could be a good opportunity for iQOO to commercialize Super FlashCharge technology using Snapdragon 865 Plus.
