News News EMGblog.com: For some time, the competition of smartphone manufacturers over the number There were cameras placed on the back of the phone. But now the main competition (in addition to the number of cameras) is also focused on their capabilities. One of the things that has recently become very popular among users is the ability of the camera to create a high zoom. Aside from digital zoom (which is considered a software feature), true optical zoom requires moving the lens components, which has been implemented over the last few years in periscopic form with the lens components positioned along the body. In this regard, Oppo recently designed a periscopic module. New news has been given.

Oppo was one of the first brands during The MWC 2017 event unveiled the idea of periscope cameras placed along the body to create true optical zoom, and has developed this idea several times over the following years. The new Oppo module consists of three lens groups consisting of 7 elements. Due to the flexible movement of two groups of these lenses, the module can achieve optical zoom by adjusting the focal distance from 85 to 135 mm. Aperture opening starts from f/3.3 and ends at f/4.4 at maximum zoom. Moving these two groups of lenses – which, in addition to zoom, also entails other functions such as autofocus and optical stabilization – is the responsibility of a new 16-bit high-precision driver IC.

The new Oppo module uses a “large image sensor” with a wide aspect ratio of 16:11 and its maximum output is about 32 megapixels. This sensor supports the technology of combining 4 pixels in 1 pixel (or Quad Bayer filter). Needless to say, this large sensor – the exact size of which has not been announced by the manufacturing company – includes technologies such as multifocal image integration technology, multi-shot field of view angle alignment technology and an algorithm called super-division, and the focal length of its optical set is also limited It covers 85 to 280 mm.

85mm and 135mm focal lengths can meet a wide range of daily photography and videography needs. The focal length of 85 mm in this module, while reducing noise and sharpening the edges of objects, helps to reproduce true colors and gives more vivid images (even in low-light environments). The focal length of 135 mm also enriches the sense of space and depth of the image in addition to increasing the purity of the image and drawing the details accurately.

If we assume a 26 mm wide lens for the main camera, the new module Oppo can achieve optical zoom from 3.3x to 5.2x. In this way, the hybrid zoom will have the ability to zoom up to 11 times.

At the end, it should be mentioned that last month the specification of a new phone from Oppo was observed in the system of “China Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center” known as TENAA. It is said that this phone – whose name has not yet been announced – uses an upgraded periscopic lens, so some experts speculate that this phone is an updated version Oppo Reno 10X Zoom Edition. It is not unlikely that Oppo used the above module in making this phone.
