8th generation Intel processors will be released this month (August) for desktop computer users. Current reports indicate that these products will be launched at Gamescom. Due to the closeness of the release date, every day new news about the specifications of new Intel processors is leaked. The recently published details include more details of these processors.

Due to the increase in competition between Intel and AMD, Intel will release 6-core processors for the desktop (Mainstream) for the first time. The 6 cores of Coffee Lake processors are one of the most obvious features of these processors. These processors use the same 14nm manufacturing technology as Kabylake processors, and their architecture is similar to Skylake processors. In fact, Coffee Lake processors are a copy of Kobe Lake processors, except that they have more cores.

The first and most powerful 8th generation processor is called 8700K. This processor consists of 6 cores with a base frequency of 3.7 GHz. The boost frequency of this processor is 4.3 GHz on 6 cores, 4.4 GHz on 4 cores, 4.6 GHz on 2 cores and 4.7 GHz in single core mode. The power consumption of this product is 95 watts and it uses a GT2 graphic with 12 MB cache level 3 along with support for HyperThreading (6 cores, 12 crispy). The 8700 processor, like the 8700K model, uses 6 cores. The power consumption of this processor is 65 watts and it operates at a base frequency of 3.2 GHz. The boost frequency of this processor is 4.3 GHz on 6 cores, 4.3 GHz on 4 cores, 4.5 GHz on 2 cores and 4.6 GHz in single core mode.

After reviewing the specifications of the Core-i7 processors, we come to the i5 processors. These processors also use 6 cores, with the difference that they do not support HyperThreading (6 cores, 6 threads). 8600K has 9 MB level 3 cache and 95 watts power consumption. The base frequency of this processor is 3.6 GHz and the boost frequency of this processor is 4.1 GHz on 6 cores, 4.2 GHz on 4 cores, 4.2 GHz on 2 cores and 4.3 GHz on single core mode. The base frequency in the 64-watt i5 8400 processor has been reduced to 2.8 GHz and the boost frequency of this processor is 3.8 GHz on 6 cores, 3.9 GHz on 4 cores, 3.9 GHz on 2 cores and 4.0 GHz. It is in single core mode. Due to the presence of 6 processing cores, the empty place of HyperThreading will not be felt for most users.

Considering the movement of Core i7 and Core i5 processors towards more cores, a good opportunity to Intel has come to change the number of cores of other processors as well. For example, Celeron processors can now be dual-core with HyperThreading support. Pentium processors will be 4 cores and Core i3s will be 4 cores with HyperThreading support. In this case, ordinary 2-core processors will become history and old office systems will be closer to the end of their life.
