Brazil is taking legal action against Apple and Samsung for removing chargers from phone boxes
Samsung is likely to face a fine for removing the charging adapter from the box of its flagship smartphones. Consumer rights groups in Brazil are taking legal action against Samsung. These groups have also targeted Apple. Since the introduction of the iPhone 12 , Apple has removed the charger from the box of all its phones.
According to the report sammobile, In 2021, with the launch of the Galaxy S21 series of phones, Samsung announced that its flagship devices will be available to customers without a charger. Two companies, Samsung and Apple, have announced environmental protection as the main reason for this action, but many customers are still dissatisfied, especially considering that the price of flagship phones has not changed much.
In this regard, Brazil’s Justice Ministry says more than 900 organizations affiliated with Procon may take legal action against Samsung and Apple. Procon is the foundation for the protection of consumer rights in Brazil. Apparently, the mentioned organizations intend to present their cases along with proposed solutions before reaching a final decision on the possibility of sanctioning Apple and Samsung.

According to reports, Apple has already paid a fine of 2.1 million dollars to the Sao Paulo branch of the Procon Foundation. This company has been fined along with Samsung in the city of Fortaleza. A report in Telecompaper states that Samsung and Apple have been fined 5.13 million dollars. It is not clear that this amount is the total fine of two companies; Or the fine of each company separately.
The Brazilian branch of Samsung, apart from the flagship phones, puts the charger in the box of other phones of the Korean company. The Galaxy A53 comes with a charger in Brazil, however, it does not have a charger in other markets.
